Antigone Pogiatzi

Antigone Pogiatzi is an art historian and exhibitions curator. Her fields of interest vary from 19th century realism to contemporary art, focusing on the socio-political dimensions of the art production.
She has received her undergraduate degree in History and Archaeology (specialised in Archaeology and History of Art) from the National Kapodistrian Univeristy of Athens (Greece, 2005-2009) and her MA in History of Art from the University of York (UK, 2010-2011). Today she works as a tour guide in Greece, and writes articles related to history of art for the monthly publication Istorika Themata of Gnomon Publications (Athens). She was the curator for the exhibition State of being and the element of surprise that was held in Metamatic: taf, Athens, June 2016 (art director: Maria Zacharogianni). In the past, she has worked for the Benaki Museum (Exhibitions Department), as well as for the National Archaeological Museum of Cyprus. She has also collaborated with Greek artists and curators for the exhibitions Timeless Observatory, Kythera Biennale,(Kythira, 17-28.7.2016), and «Ο Θεός να το κάμει sketch», Ο Καβάφης και η πόλη: 18 εικαστικές προσεγγίσεις της ποιητικής πολεοδομίας στον Κωνσταντίνο Καβάφη, (Athens, November 2013). Her articles concerning the shows were published in the accompanying catalogues.
