Caterina Giansiracusa

She has a MA degree in sculpture at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti of Turin, Italy, and she attended one year at the Burg Giebischenstein Kunsthochschule of Halle (Saale), Germany. She’s a visual artist, but she also works as assistant in other’s ateliers. In her work she gets inspiration from daily life, trying to investigate different points of view and experiences of new methodologies. To do this she inserts the artistic practice in everyday moments and patterns. Her artistic research starts from the observation of movements and acts in the living space and from the common knowledge of what we mean for “landscape” and “environment”. She gathers the gestures and traces left by the passage of herself and others in an attempt to construct a coral discourse, reflecting on the history of material memory.
Her key words are: stratification, archive and “taking care”.
